There are some muskets and cannons, but also swords, armor, and magic wands. There are gods, but they're not all walking around like the Forgotten Realms, so you can be agnostic. I can see how a lot of the mechanics and spells are much like D&D, but they're all slightly different since it is not strictly a Dungeons and Dragons game or world. Lots of interesting characters to recruit, they have banter and individual quests, and at the end of the game you can see how you've affected them through completing their quests or not, and what choices you made.
